Hi everyone, I'm guessing this is the right place to ask. What is the best kind of foods to feed fish?

I have about 8 tanks of different fish, african cichlids, discus, peaceful type community fish, corydoras, l plecos, assorted bristlenose. Even if I don't have the same fish that people do, I still want to know what you feed.

I have done a bit of research on things like New Era and New life spectrum and before I go off and buy some, I would like to see what everyone else feeds and recommends. Basically I feed frozen foods and an assortment of dried foods, fresh fruit/veg. But I'm interested in buying some top range dry foods as I'm not too happy with what I can get locally.

Thanks. :)

Most of my fish get Sera Flora and NLS. And whatever I win in the PCS raffles :)

They seem pretty happy with that.

Live food can be a disease risk, it is comparatively expensive and can be difficult to get fish to feed on pellet or flake once they get into the routine of live food. Pellet/flake offers a more balanced diet and should probably be used in preference to live food.

IME Hikari Cichlid Gold pellets and Sera Flora flakes. That's what I feed my cichlids and catfish. With the occasional treat of Mysis shrimp and peas.

Yeah, can do. Once a week wont hurt.
my question would always be: Why?
If you have a good reason for it, go for it. If its something you just want to try, go for it.

New era all the way for cichlids. Hikari carnivore for more carnivorous fish.

Thanks everyone! This has helped heaps! Now I have a good idea of what I'm looking for, can't wait to start feeding them some of this stuff. Sounds great!

The HBH algae grazers I've found to be awesome, they do expand and break up a bit once they've been in the tank but I've not found it to effect water quality.
Otherwise I seem to be using hikari or Sanyu without any drama (though I wouldn't feed Sanyu bottom feeder pellets to BN, may cause bloat)

The ocean nutrition wafers seem to be popular in my tank, bought them friday for bristlenose because they never get anything at all from tropheus. Throw a couple in for bristlenose and tropheus territories are forgotten whilst the frenzy commences, bristlenose eventually catch the scent and to my surprise hand it to the bigger tropheus then drag off the bounty.
