What type of costs are involved in getting a fishroom setup? I know its a difficult question to answer as there are so many factors. Lets say a 4mx3m size shed.

I have a 7 x 6 meter fish room with 100 tanks it was expensive to set up, I made a point of not working out how much I spent on it.

Cost depends how you set up. If you set up somewhere uninsulated such as a shed or garage you are gonna have heaters on all day and all night. Best bet is to insulate and heat the shed/room rather than individual tanks.
To work out costs consider the combined wattage of all the equipment you need in kilowatts then times it by the price of power. Heating is variable but filtration and lighting costs are more predictable.

I am currently making some alterations to my stand alone fish room. Since it the third one I have set up, I really should have learned better from my earlier mistakes: well I sorta did, but made some brand new ones.

You are welcome to come and have a look at my "money-pit". Drop me a PM if interested.

Syd.

Take Syd up on the offer jarius. I've got a lot of advice from Syd
I would like to get cracking with an insulated fish room too.
My first attempt at setting up tanks for breeding was a PITA as it was in the garage.

Not really a cichlid discussion this.

I only had a small shed but ran out of fime with it. Now it's all sold off :)

Got room for a 6m x 3m fish shed compete with tanks ready to go Jairus? I'm renting my place out in Manning and looks like I won't have room at my new place for it (unless I section off the garage...).
