the switch and the green light should both be on the side of the large black knob on the top of the canister filter, behind a clear plastic flap, if that makes any sense?

So do I have to lift this flap? Never mind, thanks for your help. I found the clear plastic thing but no matter how hard I tried it would not move. In frustration I decided to use a small flat bladed screw driver, and the whole plastic piece came out. Sure enough behind it was the switch (which has been off this whole time) and the little green light. I was being two gentle the whole time!
I am good at being gentle, as I do not like to break things.
Thanks for your help!

Are you talking about UV Filters ?

I have 2 different brands & neither of them have an "on/off" switch. If it doesn't come on when it is plugged in I suggest that possibly either the UV tube is faulty or blown & needs replacing, or the whole unit is faulty.

Thats straight out of the manual... That is the switch I am refering too I can not see the green light at all to tell me it is working.

In Topic: Fish With Personality?

16 December 2008 - 06:31 PM

Of all the fish I have ever kept the one with the most personality was the Oscars. They have done many studies in to the brain growth of Oscars, and thousands of examples of their intelligence are around for all too see but sadly your tank is too narrow for Oscars.
The next funniest fish I ever kept was a Red Devil. He would thrash around for attention, sulk whenever he did not get his way, feint injury for attention, and generally let you know he wanted a piece of you. Again unfortunately RD's are not the best community fish.
Good luck with your search let all of us know what you find and how it all goes.
