Make sure to get a thick acrylic, from my understanding it can get 'wet' and start to become floppy/warped

#339513 How To Send A Pm To Someone (Classifieds Edition)

Posted by MrLeifBeaver on 26 May 2015 - 11:10 AM

Hello All,

In the classifieds your are requested to send PMs to people and NOT reply to any advert.

The reply function is for the advertiser, for 'bumping' as per the classifieds guildlines

So here is a quick guide on 'How to Send a PM' to an advertiser.

SENDING PM AFTER SEEING AN ADVERT

1) You've found a fish you want to buy > Click on it and go to the post.

2) Move you mouse down and click on 'Send PM' (the circled red item) do not click reply, I crossed off the reply to show you where that is.

3) Fill in the message to the person. Yes, you can even add photos and embed them too! if you want

can't wait for the "how to make a how to make a how to guide" :P

Brilliant! Let me finish the others first then I will do that.

I decided not to go into the semantics of why we don't want replies and just tried to keep it to the PM bit only :)

#339456 Guide: How To Send A Pm To Someone (Classifieds Edition)

Hello Guys,

I was asked to do a guide on 'How to use the PM button' as there can be some confusion on it.

This is mainly with reference to people using the 'Reply' on classified adds and not sending a PM instead.

Yes, I have been reprimanded for doing it too :D

There are two ways I can see for sending a PM (Personal Message)

FIRST WAY

1) You've found a fish you want to buy > Go to the post

post-7085-0-08990800-1432537697.jpg

2) Click on 'Send PM' (the circled item) do not click reply as this puts a post up under that topic (I crossed off the reply to show you where that is).

post-7085-0-68628400-1432539724.jpg

3) Fill in the message to the person - yes, you can even add photos and embed them too! if you want

post-7085-0-35792300-1432537704.jpg

4) Click 'Send Message' and wait for the super fast reply.

SECOND WAY

If you see anyones forum name you can usally click on it to send quick messages to them.

1) Click on the persons name

post-7085-0-68649500-1432538799.jpg

2) Click on Send me a message

post-7085-0-61184900-1432538803.jpg

3) Compose the message

post-7085-0-35791200-1432538796.jpg

4) Click send

Thanks shep for the use of your topic in reference to this guide .

I hope you sell your Royal Whiptails.

Regards,

MrLeifBeaver

P.S. Future topic coming; How to setup 'Send notifications to email' so you know when you get reply to a PM you sent.

#339178 Guide: How To Embed Photos On Your Topic/comment

Posted by MrLeifBeaver on 20 May 2015 - 01:52 PM

Hey Guys,

As I have been reading other peoples threads I realise that not all of you might know how to properly embed images in your comment/thread section.

Thus you are forced to have little thumbnail links all over your topic.

I also wanted to do this to give the people in the Aquascaping Competition a chance to make their topic even more impressive.

Note: This is the way I do it and there might actaully be a simpler way.

1) Attach a photo and upload it as usaul.

               post-7085-0-39301800-1432100771.jpg

2) Yes, you still need to attach the photo to the post as usaul.

               post-7085-0-52133200-1432100861.jpg

3) You will notice this is how the 'attachments' appear.
               post-7085-0-01347500-1432101007.jpg

4) Once you are happy with all the images, you click 'Post New Topic' or 'Post Comment'

               post-7085-0-06421600-1432101097.jpg

5) This is how your topic will look.

                      post-7085-0-43067300-1432101230.jpg

6) This is where it starts getting a little complicated. Basically you need to finding the physical image location on PCS (the image you want to embed). Click on the thumbnail and view the large version.

               post-7085-0-55482500-1432103657.jpg

7) Then I open up the 'Inspect Element Function' on Mozzilla Firefox. Right Click on the Large Image > Click Inspect Element (Q).

               post-7085-0-83316200-1432103716.jpg

8) Copy the link location and then edit your topic and embed the link as an image. See red circled areas.

                post-7085-0-03826800-1432101809.jpg

9) press OK. Upon pressing it the full image will come up and not just a thumbnail.

10) Rinse and repeat.

Now you know what to do. Hopefully you can have a sexy looking Topics/Posts too.

I hope this helps and is not to confusing. Post any comments or tips below and I will edit appropiately.

#338686 Mrleif's Nano 34L Marine

Posted by MrLeifBeaver on 08 May 2015 - 01:34 PM

I have been thinking about doing a new scape and entering it into the Aquascape contest (instead of Discus).

But that means selling my georgeous little Clowns and my Shrimp.

I bought a secondhand chiller recently ($150) and am thinking about doing a cold water Nano Tank - Coral Bay inspired - Humbugs and certain coral that you get there.

Coral Bay was what inpired me to get my Nano in the first place too.

I need to do my research before I commit to anything.

And the chiller (bigger than the tank) is huge so I am trying to think how I store it (Going to have to get a cupboard or somthing).
