Maylandia and Metriaclima same same Mike just depends which profile site / book you look at.

Common name would be a Blue Zebra. As far as species goes hard to tell unless you have the females too? If they're orange then estherae. Safer to leave in the unknown category and keep for display only.

Negative feedback where you can't see a clear ratio of positive vs negative transactions (eBay you can) is misleading, biased and inaccurate. Checkout sites like productreview.com.au where people majority of the time go to the effort to post negative feedback because they're fuelled by emotion. The other 95% don't bother posting their positive experience because they have no reason to (unless they want to help promote the store / product).

Negative feedback does little to protect the club and / or members. If there were real concerns about our sponsors we'd know about it (through private communication) and take action. Bad experiences are a reality, will always occur, no store or person is perfect - mistakes will be made. From a frequency perspective for someone like Vebas who have high turnover they'd still have a very small percentage of dissatisfied customers. They've been around for donkeys years, if they were that bad that someone feels the need to "warn" others about them then they wouldn't have lasted this long.

Let's say we allowed the negative feedback to occur it would create unnecessary activity burning time of the people volunteering to run the club to address the defamation concerns (in some cases threats of legal action) of the business (sponsor or not). The person posting the negative feedback thinking they're "protecting" others is in fact doing the opposite. Why create tension and stress within the club? Why potentially risk a relationship the PCS has with someone like Vebas who have contributed for well over a decade because someone feels the need to vent? There's no place for it here and plenty of places you can. The PCS relies on its members and sponsors to survive - http://www.perthcich...showtopic=24767

#345865 Pcs Club Members Continuing To Pay It Forward With Their Generosity!

Posted by dazzabozza on 17 October 2015 - 09:56 PM

Tonight we transferred funds to TELETHON which were donations made by our members at various auctions.

It's great to see the continued generosity and willingness to support those who need it.

Here's a list of donations made over recent years -

TELETHON $499
RSPCA $499
The Wilson Family Cancer Treatment (close friends of Speirsy) $400

The next cause we're backing is the Stuart Grant Cichlid Preservation Fund - http://www.perthcich...showtopic=61543

Hoping to get resolved soon!

#341755 Texan X Jaguar Babies

Posted by dazzabozza on 15 July 2015 - 05:35 PM

Hey Tomas

I think you're confusing Hybrid speciation (two different species crossing) versus things like line-breeding - https://en.wikipedia...ybrid_(biology)

Here's a fish related article on hybrids that's worth a read (fairly old but the majority of it still applies and it touches on the dog topic too) - http://www.perthcich...?showtopic=5615

It's each to their own - people can keep what they like (hybrid or not).  We have to be reminded of the fundamentals of the club and maintaining species is one of them.

Oh and ignore the people taking the piss.  They have a weird sense of humour ;)

#339829 Finished My Tank

Posted by dazzabozza on 31 May 2015 - 09:23 PM

Not a bad effort. If I was to make some changes is look at hiding the equipment that's currently visible in the tank for a cleaner look.

#339825 The Bakehouse Fishroom

Fantastic journal Humbug!

Hopefully spurs more people into setting up their own fish rooms.

#339468 Breeders/sponsors Forum

Posted by dazzabozza on 25 May 2015 - 05:57 PM

Is up to the breeder whether they want to list a price and quantity. It makes sense to at least list a base price IMO to reduce unnecessary communication.

The negotiations part is recommended to be via PM where the sponsor can offer a price based on X number purchased etc. This is to prevent competition / clashing / arguments in the thread. The price they sold for and which sponsor they went to doesn't need to be visible to the other people viewing the thread.

Also just to reiterate the breeder had access to only their sub-forum and cannot see other breeders areas. Sponsors can see all breeders. The only other people that can see will be the Admins (currently myself, Cawdor and Werdna). Committee and moderators will not have access at all.

That's similar themed to my last Conda except mine is a bit more cartoony. Will get more detail added to it later.
